There are different ways of drawing a portrait but in my case I just used 7B pencil in drawing. Here take a look...

and lastly an inspiration :">
For newbies, I recommend you to use a lighter pencil preferably an HB pencil which is perfect for outlines.
After outlining, I started working on the eyes. I always start working on the eye part because this gives me a hint if I really get the feature of the model perfectly or not. Some artists are starting from the top to bottom to get rid of the mess. Since I started sketching from the eye part I put a piece of paper under my palm so every time I sketch it won't make any mess. Using a 7B pencil I started sketching the outlines of the eye from lighter to darker then I used a stomp to darken it.
In drawing the eyebrow tilt your hand a little and follow the outline of the hair strands from "bottom to top." In shading the tone, I use the stomp to blend the shades.
This is the outcome |
In drawing the nose I use the stomp to darken and give details to the nose. For darker parts like nostrils, I use 7B pencil. To look the nose more visible and more realistic I use a kneaded eraser to erase some darker parts particularly on the point of the nose.
By following the outlines of the lips you could easily shade it and give details to it. In drawing the temple arm of the sunglasses I darken the outlines even more.
Following a one-line-shading-direction shades the temple arm.
In drawing the hair do not scatter the graphite everywhere follow a one-line-shading-direction.
In darkening the hair, I use the stomp. As you can see below I blended it all (Darkening the hair depends on the picture you're copying.)
For the cap, I also use the stomp but this time I did not use the point of the stomp but either the narrow part of it.
After shading and adding some details here's now the output.
I hope you like it!
